The current NESSie team plays a vital role in the community, offering intensive 1:1 and family support across a wide range of issues and needs presented by service users.  Adopting a “no wrong door” and “human learning systems” approach, the team are responsive, sticky and impactful, meeting the needs which actually arise, rather than needs which are assumed to be priorities.  NESSie staff support people to overcome a variety of barriers in their lives, meaning that employment and further education can be a realistic option for them. 

 NESSie staff can support on housing issues, access to physical and mental health services, links into positive community activities, combating isolation, support for people lacking English as a first language, help to maximise income and access emergency food etc.   

 By embracing a liberated and person-centered approach, NESSie aims to empower individuals in North Edinburgh to thrive, not just survive, and to advocate for systemic change to better support the community.
